Our weekly sessions cover a wide range of creative activities such as poetry, drawing, painting, collaging, singing and dance. Everyone gets an opportunity to get involved, have fun and get hands-on experience of new art techniques.
In recent sessions we have had great fun with mandala making, abstract mark-making and collaging. We have also been energised by a seated dance session based on The Nutcracker and we have delved into the abstract paint and print works of painter Pablo Picasso.
Our weekly sessions are run by Arts for Dementia staff, talented artists, or partners from museums and galleries. Some of our recent hosts have included curators and guides from leading art organisations and museums such as the English National Ballet, the British Museum, Chelsea Pensioners and the Wallace Collection. Their talented facilitators have engaged and enriched us, bringing their buildings, exhibitions and collections to life.
These sessions are fun and relaxed and open to both people living with early-stage dementia and their carers and companions. Don’t worry if you are not confident about getting online, one of our team will be happy to give you a hand.
Art Wednesday is a brilliant opportunity to make friends, engage creatively, learn new art techniques, and discover fascinating art and heritage collections in a friendly online workshop.
