Voices of participants: what it’s like to join our workshops

Posted: 23rd June 2026

If you’re living with early-stage dementia, or supporting someone who is, these short films offer a glimpse of what it’s like to take part in Arts for Dementia workshops.

Hear directly from participants and their family carers about their experiences of joining our programmes, trying new creative activities, building their confidence and making connections with others. They share what helped them take the first step, what surprised them and why they keep coming back.

We hope their stories help you picture what it might be like to join us.

Trying something new

Participants tell us that they value the friendly atmosphere at the workshops, the range of creative activities on offer and the encouragement from our artists and staff. They share why taking that first step has led them to new experiences, enjoyment and a growing sense of confidence.

A place to belong

Participants with dementia and their family carers describe finding friendship, support and a sense of community through Arts for Dementia. They talk about trying things they never thought they could do, feeling proud of their achievements and discovering a place where they feel at home.
