The Joy of Dance with Shobana Jeyasingh Dance at Ashford Place, summer 2023
Posted: 1st October 2023Continuing our relationships with Shobana Jeyasingh Dance and Ashford Place community centre, and as part of a Brent-wide ‘movement for health’ programme, we are bringing together a very diverse group to dance each week. Having asked for people’s favourite songs and musicians, the lead dancer encouraged participants to share their own dance moves and create shared choreography to songs by Elvis, Witney Houston and from Bollywood films among others.

“Sarah did an outstanding job of engaging the participants and they clearly enjoyed the session immensely. She did not ‘dumb down’ the class requirements and the participants were truly able to participate at whatever level felt comfortable for them. For me, it was so lovely to see their true personalities emerging.”
